The WWW Interstate Planning Commission receives federal transportation funds that are sub-allocated directly to the MPO area in both West Virginia and Ohio. These funds are set aside for communities within the WWW region and must be programmed through the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
West Virginia
In West Virginia, WWW receives sub-allocated funding under two federal programs:
Local governments may apply for these funds through WWW using the WV application form available below.
Project requests are reviewed and prioritized by staff and the Policy Board, then submitted to the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) for inclusion in the Statewide TIP. A 20% local match is required, and projects must be ready to advance to avoid loss of funds due to carryover limits.
Ohio
In Ohio, sub-allocated funding is provided by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) through these programs:
Project requests are reviewed and prioritized by staff and the Policy Board, then submitted to the ODOT for inclusion in the Statewide TIP. A 20% local match is required, and projects must be ready to advance to avoid loss of funds due to carryover limits.
Why It Matters
Sub-allocated funding gives local communities in the WWW region a direct voice in federal transportation investments. By participating in the TIP process, cities, counties, and transit agencies can secure federal funds for priority projects that improve safety, mobility, and quality of life across the region.
