The WWW Interstate Planning Commission (WWW) is designated as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Wood County, West Virginia and the townships of Belpre, Dunham, Fearing, Newport, Marietta, Muskingum, and Warren in Washington County, Ohio. As the MPO, WWW serves as the regional transportation planning agency and forum for cooperative decision-making.
Wirt County, West Virginia was originally included in both the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the transportation planning study area. Following its removal from the MSA during the 1980 Census, Wirt County was no longer included in the planning area; however, the official name of the organization (Wood-Washington-Wirt Interstate Planning Commission) remained unchanged.
WWW serves as the formal decision-making body responsible for continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive transportation planning in accordance with federal and state requirements, including those of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), West Virginia Code, and Ohio Code.
